Panhex Hexagonal Tile

The PANHEX tile is the result of 12+ years of experience in the manufacturing and installation of playground surfaces, as well as a two-year research process. It’s a next-generation tile that offers significant advantages and improvements over existing tiles on the market.

For this reason, the PANHEX tile for children’s play areas is a key step forward. It provides several advantages over traditional 50X50 cm square or 50X100 cm rectangular tiles. It’s a hexagonal-shaped tile, manufactured with pigmented SBR recycled rubber. This surface material is fine-grained, with one smooth face and the other in a honeycomb lattice pattern.

This tile’s design is based on the honeycomb structure, giving it a uniform resistance across the entire surface and providing it with excellent shock absorption. It has a thickness of 5 cm and achieves a HIC score of 1.70m in tests according to the EN-1177 standard. This is significantly higher than the 1.2/1.3m standard of traditional tiles.

The corners of the hexagonal tiles have 120º angles, unlike the square’s 90º angles. This prevents the edges from lifting up due to sun exposure, thus eliminating tripping hazards and premature deterioration.

The dimensions of the PANHEX tile, as well as the symmetry of its shape and mass balance, minimize the contractions/expansions caused by ambient temperature changes. Thus, the expansion joints of this tile are smaller than other designs.

Its hexagonal shape both aesthetically improves the traditional square/rectangular tile and lends itself to playing with colors and shapes. This helps achieve a personalized, dynamic design.
